Where this is heading

The near plan is to join Farangur with syntrofi.com — the event and its pack — plus what stays exactly as it is, what I refuse to put a date on, and an open invitation to write to me.

A festival campsite seen from above, a ring of tents around a fire.

Three posts about what Farangur is and what it deliberately isn't. This one is about what comes next — and I want to be careful here, because "coming soon" is the most abused phrase on the internet and I don't intend to add to it.

The nearest thing

The near plan is to join Farangur with syntrofi.com.

Syntrofi is the other project, and it was born out of an even purer need than this one: to be at a festival with my friends. It's the invitation app for an event — the thing you send round so people know there's a camp and who's coming. Farangur is what everyone packs for it. Put the two side by side and the join draws itself: an event has people, and the people have a pack. The event's pack.

Today they live apart — the event in one place, the pack in another. That's the seam I'm going to work on next. Not because it's clever, but because it's how I actually use both of them.

What stays

Whatever the join ends up looking like, the middle of Farangur doesn't move. Three phases — taking, ready, packed — one tap each, and "to buy" as a mark beside them, not a fourth phase. The board with needs and claims, opening on what's MISSING. The invite link that works for a friend without an account. Slovak stays the source language and English stays first for newcomers. These are the parts that already earn their keep, and joining two apps is no reason to redesign the one that works.

What I'm not promising

Dates. I don't have them and I'd rather say so than make one up. This is built next to a job and a life, in the hours that are left, and I pack with it myself — which is a good way to find what's wrong and a terrible way to keep a roadmap.

There are things on the cut list that are designed and waiting. Ride sharing — who drives whom, how much boot there is. And "which bag is it in", which is probably the first thing to come back once the three phases have proved themselves. Neither has a date either. When they come, it'll be because packing needed them, not because a list said so.

Write to me

If you pack with Farangur — alone or with a group — tell me what got in your way. Not what you'd want in a perfect world; what actually stopped you last time. The address is in the footer of every page on https://farangur.com, and I read all of it. It's young, there are still rough corners, and the fastest way to sand one down is to tell me which one you hit.
